Keeping a Cisco 7606 router running at peak performance demands a power supply that can handle dense line card configurations without compromise. The Cisco PWR-2700-AC is a 2700-watt AC power supply purpose-built for the Cisco 7606 chassis, delivering the high-wattage, clean DC power your routing infrastructure requires.

Designed with universal AC input (100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz), the PWR-2700-AC provides full 2700W output when connected to a 220–240 VAC source and approximately 1350W at 110–120 VAC. It supports hot-swap installation and redundant operation — install two units in a single Cisco 7606 chassis for load-sharing and failover, ensuring uninterrupted service even during a power supply replacement.

Unlike the earlier PWR-1900-AC/6, the PWR-2700-AC does not require separate Power Entry Modules (PEMs), streamlining installation and reducing the component count in your chassis. With a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 150,000 hours, integrated overload protection, and a built-in cooling fan, this power supply is engineered for the always-on demands of enterprise edge, service provider POP, and data center deployments.

Note: The Cisco 7600 Series is an end-of-life platform. The PWR-2700-AC remains widely available on the secondary market for organizations maintaining existing Cisco 7606 deployments.

Features & Benefits
High-Capacity 2700W Output

The PWR-2700-AC delivers up to 2700 watts of regulated DC power when connected to a 220–240 VAC source, providing ample headroom for fully populated Cisco 7606 chassis with multiple supervisor engines and line cards. At 110–120 VAC, the unit outputs approximately 1350W, still sufficient for lighter configurations.

Hot-Swappable Redundancy

Designed for mission-critical environments, the PWR-2700-AC is fully hot-swappable and supports redundant, load-sharing operation. Install two units in a Cisco 7606 to ensure seamless failover — if one supply fails, the other maintains full chassis operation without interruption.

Universal AC Input

With a wide input voltage range of 100–240 VAC at 50/60 Hz, the PWR-2700-AC is internationally compatible out of the box. Whether deployed in North American data centers or global POP sites, no external voltage conversion is needed.

Simplified Installation — No PEMs Required

Unlike the PWR-1900-AC/6, the PWR-2700-AC installs directly into the Cisco 7606 power supply bay without requiring separate Power Entry Modules (PEMs). Any pre-installed PEMs must be removed and replaced with a blank filler plate before installation, reducing complexity and freeing up chassis space.

Carrier-Grade Reliability

Built to a 150,000-hour MTBF standard, the PWR-2700-AC includes integrated overload protection, overvoltage protection, and an internal cooling fan. A 20 ms hold time safeguards connected hardware against brief power interruptions, maintaining stable operation in demanding environments.

Deployment Scenarios
Service Provider POP / Network Edge

Service providers running Cisco 7606 routers at the network edge rely on redundant, high-wattage power supplies to maintain always-on IP/MPLS services. The PWR-2700-AC provides the capacity and failover capability needed to support dense SPA and line card configurations in POP environments.

Enterprise Data Center Core/Edge Routing

Enterprises maintaining Cisco 7606 routers in data center or campus core roles need reliable power for high-throughput routing. The PWR-2700-AC ensures chassis uptime with hot-swap redundancy, allowing maintenance without service disruption.

Spare / Replacement for Existing Deployments

With the Cisco 7600 Series at end-of-life, sourcing replacement power supplies is critical for organizations extending the operational life of their 7606 routers. The PWR-2700-AC serves as a direct drop-in replacement to restore or maintain power redundancy.

2700W Output Power — Delivers full power at 220-240 VAC to support fully loaded Cisco 7606 chassis

Compatibility Notes

Compatible Chassis:

  • Cisco 7606 Router

Important Installation Note: When installing the PWR-2700-AC in a Cisco 7606 router, any pre-installed Power Entry Modules (PEMs) must be removed and replaced with a blank PEM filler plate (Cisco part number 800-19193-01).

Power Cable: A power cable is not included with this power supply. The unit accepts a standard IEC 60320 C14 connector; use a C13-to-wall-outlet cable appropriate for your region.

Note: The Cisco 7606 and the broader Cisco 7600 Series are end-of-life products. Cisco recommends migration to the Cisco ASR 9000 Series for next-generation deployments.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, a power cable is not included. The PWR-2700-AC accepts a standard IEC 60320 C14 connector. You will need a C13-to-wall-outlet power cord appropriate for your region's electrical standards.

Yes. The PWR-2700-AC is a hot-swappable, redundant power supply. When two units are installed in a Cisco 7606 chassis in a load-sharing configuration, one can be removed or replaced without disrupting router operation.

No. Unlike the PWR-1900-AC/6, the PWR-2700-AC does not use PEMs. If your Cisco 7606 has PEMs pre-installed, they must be removed and replaced with a blank PEM filler plate (Cisco part 800-19193-01) before installing the PWR-2700-AC.

The PWR-2700-AC delivers its full rated 2700W output when connected to a 220–240 VAC source. When connected to a 110–120 VAC source, output is reduced to approximately 1350W. For fully loaded chassis configurations, a 220–240 VAC circuit is recommended.

The Cisco 7600 Series is an end-of-life product line. Cisco has ended sale and active support for these routers and recommends migration to the Cisco ASR 9000 Series. However, the PWR-2700-AC remains available on the secondary market for organizations maintaining existing deployments, and third-party maintenance providers can offer continued hardware support.
