The Cisco ONS-SC-E1-T1-PW is a service card module designed for the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP). It provides a single-port, channelized E1/T1 (European 2.048 Mbps or North American 1.544 Mbps) interface for transporting circuit-switched traffic over packet-switched networks. The ONS-SC-E1-T1-PW card supports the creation of pseudowires (PWs), which enable the transport of TDM (Time-Division Multiplexing) traffic over IP/MPLS (Internet Protocol/Multi-Protocol Label Switching) networks. It encapsulates the E1/T1 traffic into Ethernet packets, allowing it to be transmitted over an IP/MPLS network as if it were a native Ethernet service. This card is commonly used in service provider networks to migrate traditional TDM-based services to more cost-effective and flexible packet-based networks. It enables the convergence of voice, data, and video services onto a single IP/MPLS infrastructure, providing greater efficiency and scalability.
