Managing a growing data center or campus network with hundreds of 1G-connected devices while preparing for 25G and 100G uplink speeds can be a real challenge — especially when rack space is at a premium.

The Cisco N9K-C92348GC-X is a Nexus 9200 Series fixed-configuration switch purpose-built for high-density Gigabit Ethernet top-of-rack (ToR) and management network deployments. It delivers 48 ports of 100M/1G BASE-T copper access alongside 4x 1/10/25G SFP28 and 2x 40/100G QSFP28 uplinks — all in a compact 1RU form factor. Built on Cisco Cloud Scale technology and running NX-OS, this switch supports 0.696 Tbps of switching capacity and over 517 Mpps forwarding rate, ensuring line-rate L2/L3 performance for demanding workloads.

The N9K-C92348GC-X is ideal for big data environments requiring dense 1G server access with modern high-speed uplinks, as well as out-of-band management switch use cases. It supports advanced features including VXLAN BGP EVPN, streaming telemetry, NX-API programmability, and zero-touch provisioning (POAP). Each unit ships with dual redundant 400W AC power supplies, three fan modules, AC power cords, and a 1RU rackmount kit — with your choice of port-side exhaust or port-side intake airflow to match your data center's cooling architecture.

Note: Cisco announced End-of-Sale for this product effective September 1, 2025. Pre-owned and refurbished units remain an excellent cost-effective option for extending or expanding existing Nexus 9200 deployments.

Features & Benefits
High-Density 1G Copper Access

With 48 ports of 100M/1G BASE-T, the N9K-C92348GC-X provides dense copper connectivity for servers, storage, management interfaces, and IoT devices. Each port supports auto-negotiation between 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps, giving you flexibility to connect legacy and current-generation equipment without adapter changes.

Modern High-Speed Uplinks

The 4x SFP28 ports support 1/10/25G speeds, while the 2x QSFP28 ports handle 40G or 100G connections. This combination lets you connect to spine or aggregation switches at speeds that prevent uplink bottlenecks, and provides a smooth migration path as your fabric evolves from 10G to 25G/100G.

Cisco Cloud Scale ASIC

Built on Cisco's Cloud Scale technology, this switch delivers 0.696 Tbps of bandwidth and over 517 Mpps forwarding. The custom ASIC enables line-rate telemetry collection across all ports without adding latency or impacting switch performance — critical for environments running Cisco Tetration Analytics or similar visibility platforms.

Programmability & Automation

Running Cisco NX-OS, the N9K-C92348GC-X supports NX-API, Python scripting, Ansible integration, and Power-On Auto Provisioning (POAP) for zero-touch deployments. These capabilities dramatically reduce manual configuration time and enable consistent, repeatable network provisioning at scale.

Redundant Power & Flexible Airflow

Each unit includes dual 400W AC power supplies for N+1 redundancy and three hot-swappable fan modules. You can order port-side exhaust or port-side intake airflow configurations to align with your data center's hot-aisle/cold-aisle cooling strategy. Fan and power supply modules are field-replaceable during operation.

Deployment Scenarios
Data Center Top-of-Rack (ToR) Management Switch

Deploy the N9K-C92348GC-X as a dedicated management switch in each rack, connecting server BMC/iLO/iDRAC management ports over 1G copper while using 25G or 100G uplinks to reach the management spine. Its compact 1RU footprint preserves valuable rack space for compute and storage.

Big Data & Hadoop Cluster Access Layer

Ideal for big data environments where compute nodes still use 1G Ethernet, the 48-port copper density and high-speed uplinks ensure that MapReduce and HDFS traffic flows efficiently between nodes and to aggregation switches without uplink oversubscription.

Campus or Enterprise Server Room Aggregation

In campus or branch server rooms, the N9K-C92348GC-X consolidates dozens of 1G device connections — servers, IP phones, access points — onto a single managed switch with 100G uplinks back to the campus core, simplifying the network topology and reducing cabling complexity.

Out-of-Band Network Management

Use this switch to build a dedicated out-of-band management network for routers, switches, firewalls, and other infrastructure devices. The 48 copper ports handle console-server and management-interface connections, while QSFP28 uplinks provide high-bandwidth paths to a centralized NOC.

No. All fan modules and power supplies in a single chassis must use the same airflow direction — either all port-side exhaust or all port-side intake. Mixing airflow directions will cause cooling issues and is not supported by Cisco.
