Without this module, SM-X switch ports cannot deliver inline power to connected endpoints.
The Cisco ISR 4451-X supports up to two internal PoE modules, enabling either redundant PoE operation (one active, one standby for failover) or boost mode (both active for maximum PoE wattage). This flexibility lets network architects right-size their PoE deployment based on the number of powered devices at each branch site.
