The Cisco ASR-9010-AC is the AC-powered chassis for the Cisco ASR 9010 Aggregation Services Router, part of the proven ASR 9000 Series.
This 10-slot, 21RU modular chassis provides 8 line card slots and 2 Route Switch Processor (RSP) slots with integrated switching fabric, giving network architects the flexibility to scale port density and bandwidth as traffic demands evolve. The chassis supports a modular AC power system with pay-as-you-grow scalability and N+1 power redundancy, while field-replaceable fan trays deliver efficient front-to-back airflow cooling.
Running the Cisco IOS XR operating system, the ASR 9010 platform supports advanced routing protocols, MPLS, L2VPN/L3VPN services, segment routing, and comprehensive QoS — making it ideal for broadband aggregation, IP/MPLS backbone, mobile backhaul, and metro Ethernet deployments. Fully redundant RSPs, power supplies, and fans ensure carrier-grade availability for mission-critical networks.
Note: This SKU includes the chassis and rackmount kit only. Power supplies, fan trays, RSPs, and line cards must be purchased separately.

Carrier-Grade High Availability
Designed for nonstop operations, the ASR 9010 supports fully redundant Route Switch Processors, power supplies, fans, and switching fabric. Combined with Cisco IOS XR features like In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU), nonstop routing, and stateful switchover, the platform delivers the uptime service providers demand.
Integrated Nonblocking Switching Fabric
The switching fabric is integrated directly into the RSP cards, providing a nonblocking, low-latency data path between line cards. This architecture simplifies the chassis design — no separate fabric cards are required — while delivering high-throughput packet forwarding with service intelligence and traffic prioritization.
Modular AC Power System
The ASR-9010-AC chassis features a modular AC power architecture with two power trays. This pay-as-you-grow design lets you add power modules as you populate more line cards, optimizing energy costs while maintaining N+1 redundancy for mission-critical deployments.
Cisco IOS XR Software Platform
Cisco IOS XR delivers true software process modularity, enabling independent process restart without impacting the entire system. The operating system supports large-scale BGP, MPLS, segment routing, L2VPN/L3VPN, H-QoS, and comprehensive timing features including PTP and SyncE for mobile backhaul applications.

Compatibility Notes
Route Switch Processors (RSPs): The ASR 9010 chassis supports RSP-440, RSP-880, RSP880-LT, and RSP5 cards. RSPs are shared across the ASR 9010, ASR 9006, and ASR 9904 chassis families.
Power Supplies (sold separately): Compatible AC power supply modules include the PWR-3KW-AC-V2 (3 kW) and PWR-6KW-AC-V3 (6 kW). Corresponding AC Power Entry Modules (PEMs) such as the A9K-AC-PEM-V2 or A9K-AC-PEM-V3 are also required.
Fan Trays (sold separately): ASR-9010-FAN fan trays are required for chassis cooling.
Line Cards: Compatible with the full range of Cisco ASR 9000 Series Ethernet line cards. Refer to the Cisco ASR 9000 Series Line Card Compatibility Guide for supported models and required IOS XR software versions.
Note: Mixing of AC and DC power modules in the same chassis is not supported.
